The cost drivers, biggest first

- Freight & duty — sit on top of the ex-works price; patches are light, so this is usually modest.
Why the cheapest quote is often the most expensive
A rock-bottom price usually gets there by removing the things that protect you: sterilization and batch QC, a sealed pack that keeps adhesion, compliant documentation, and a factory that actually owns its line rather than brokering someone else's. Those savings reappear later as failed adhesion and one-star reviews, a customs or marketplace hold for missing paperwork, or a trader who can't hold quality batch to batch.
Never compare price per patch across different specifications. A slightly higher unit price with proper sterilization, a sealed pack, compliant docs and a low MOQ almost always wins on total cost and risk than a cheaper number that skipped them.
How to compare quotes fairly
- Send the identical brief to every supplier — same format, actives, shape, count, pack, certifications and target market — so the quotes are comparable.
- Compare landed cost, not ex-works price: add freight, duty and inbound.
- Check the MOQ and tooling minimums — a low unit price with a huge MOQ can mean dead stock.
- Confirm what's included — sterilization, QC, documentation, sample and production lead time.
- Weigh the risk — an own-factory specialist with named audits is worth more than the lowest quote from an unverifiable trader.
Where a low MOQ saves money
It's counterintuitive, but a low MOQ usually lowers total cost for a launch even though the per-patch price is higher.
